The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, took a 51-square-kilometer land in its west into trust, expanding its total area to 179 square kilometers, local media reported.

The government of Hefei's Shushan district signed an agreement on April 30 to entrust the administrative committee of the zone with the management of about 51 sq km of area in Xiaomiao town in Shushan district.

The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in urban planning, technological innovation and industrial development for high-quality regional development.

The zone covered 2.2 sq km when it was established in 1991 and has since been expanding through years of development.
