The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, signed a cooperation agreement with Chinese IT giant Tencent on April 27 to build the Tencent (Hefei) Intelligent Industry Headquarters Base in the zone.
The project will focus on the construction of an R&D platform cluster, the Tencent Start (Hefei) Industrial Ecological Base and the Tencent Intelligent Industry Yangtze River Delta (Hefei) Intelligent Computing Center.
In addition, Tencent Cloud plans to gather more than 3,000 R&D personnel in the headquarters within a year of its completion and generate operating revenue of not less than 5 billion yuan ($773.96 million) within four years.
Local government officials welcomed Tencent to invest in Hefei's digital economy and pledged to provide quality service for its projects in the zone.
