The science and technology bureau of Hefei recently released a list of 165 high-growth enterprises in the city, 82 of which are located in the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province.

The zone has been striving to incubate high-growth enterprises such as gazelle enterprises (enterprises that have overcome obstacles to enter a period of fast-growth) and unicorn enterprises (startups with a valuation of more than $1 billion). It is now home to the most high-growth enterprises in the city.

In addition, an official list showed that there are 12 hidden unicorns in Hefei, with seven of them located in the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone.

Hidden unicorns refer to science and technology innovation companies that have great potential to become unicorn businesses.

The zone has been enhancing policy support for local enterprises’ research and development and financial needs so as to help them become high-growth enterprises.
