Located in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, Hefei Advanced Computing Center is expected to open to provide services in June this year, its operator says.
The center's double-precision computing peak is equivalent to 31,250 PCs equipped with i7-9700. Its total data storage capacity is equivalent to 30,000 PCs.
The facility is a major new part of Anhui's information infrastructure for basic scientific research and innovation in emerging industries. It serves as a public service platform for the computing needs of R&D related to cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence.
Hefei Advanced Computing Center has signed cooperation agreements with the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei and the Hefei Institute of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, promising to provide them with higher-quality technical support.
It is also a member of the YRD Advanced Computing Alliance in Hefei. The alliance was set up to improve comprehensive and advanced computing services, as well as to encourage the sharing of advanced computing resources throughout the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.
Advanced computing consists of computing, storage, network, and control technologies. It has been integrating with big data, the internet of things, and artificial intelligence technology in recent years. It is regarded as a new driving force for scientific progress, as well as economic and social development.
