Cai Xin, a doctoral graduate of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), is the founder of Anhui HGHWELL Electronics Co Ltd, which is based in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone.

"USTC's motto greatly reflects its students' style of study – earnest and earthy," said Cai. Influenced by the atmosphere at the school, the idea of realizing social value using his own hands came into being.

"Measurement products are common appliances in people's daily lives and I've always wanted to transform my own technologies into products," he noted.

In 2010, Cai founded HGHWELL, a company that provides solutions such as measurable heating systems, intelligent water meters and intelligent water systems.

HGHWELL faced much difficulty in the beginning but the earnest working culture that was inspired by his time at USTC helped the company weather the challenges, said Cai.

In the last five years, the operating revenue of HGHWELL has maintained an annual growth rate of 30 percent.

The company's focus has always been on technological innovation. At present, HGHWELL has more than 40 research talents and it invests around 10 percent of its sales revenue into developing new products every year.
