Origin Pilot, the first domestic quantum computer operating system in China, debuted in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, on Feb 8.

The system was independently developed by Hefei Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co Ltd, a company based in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone.

The system is able to realize the systematic management of quantum resources, the parallel execution of quantum computing tasks, as well as the automatic calibration of quantum chips and other new functions, aiming to help the efficient and stable operation of quantum computers.

Compared with classical computers, the most prominent advantage of quantum computers lies in their powerful computing capabilities. As there are currently only about 50 quantum computers available worldwide, all their computing power should be used effectively.

The quantum image recognition application developed by the company can transform the image recognition task into multiple quantum circuits. After the quantum state data is encoded, these quantum circuits are in a waiting state for operation.

Through the unified scheduling and management of Origin Pilot, these quantum circuits can be executed in parallel on a single quantum chip, which not only greatly reduces the overall running time of quantum circuits, but also improves the overall utilization of the quantum chip to make full use of the current limited quantum computing resources.

Officials from Hefei Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co Ltd said that they will build a complete and open quantum computing service ecosystem based on the company's own computer cluster, Origin Pilot quantum computer operating system, as well as many domestic cloud platforms, software, and applications.
