A raft of businesses have registered in the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone section in the China (Anhui) Pilot Free Trade Zone since the FTZ was approved in September, officials told a news conference on Jan 28.

They said that over 1,300 firms have registered in the zone in Hefei, capital city of East China's Anhui province.

In addition, the section has attracted 105 projects with total investment of about 38 billion yuan ($5.89 billion), said Li Ning, an official at the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone.

The State Council released plans for new pilot FTZ in Anhui province on Sept 21. The Anhui FTZ, located in the Yangtze River Delta region, is expected to boost the region's development and high-end manufacturing, as well as its integrated circuits, artificial intelligence and cross-border e-commerce businesses, said Zhang Xi, Anhui's vice-governor.

Li said as part of the Anhui FTZ, the zone has rolled out a slew of innovative measures. These aim to improve local systems, boost the science and technology industries, expand the region's opening-up and promote the further development of the FTZ.

In particular, the zone took the lead in the Anhui FTZ to improve services to attract international personnel. It also extended links with more overseas companies and established industrial parks for the development of their projects.
