Hefei high-tech zone eyes higher-level innovation and entrepreneurship

A year-end meeting on the innovative and entrepreneurial development of the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone was held on Dec 18.
Nearly 500 guests, including industry experts, entrepreneurs, investors, and representatives of incubators and maker spaces, attended the meeting.
Lyu Changfu, deputy director of the zone's administrative committee, said that the zone has been honored twice by the State Council for the construction of a national demonstration base for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Moving forward, the zone plans to commit to innovation-driven development, strive to build high-end international innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, and enhance the integration of global resources, Lyu said.
According to an innovation index report released at the meeting, the zone's innovative capabilities and environment have been improved in recent years.
People at the meeting also suggested making better use of the zone's innovation resources to help high-tech enterprises develop new technologies with better market potential.
Ma Guangyuan, an independent economist, discussed how to seize industrial opportunities under China's new development paradigm with attendees of the meeting.
