Hefei high-tech zone launches entrepreneurial university

Hefei National High-tech Industrial Development Zone Entrepreneurial University officially opened on Nov 10.

The university will offer lessons which combine both conventional teaching and practical teaching methods. It will establish long-term strategic partnerships with Tsinghua University, Renmin University, University of Science and Technology of China and Huawei University to develop a customized teaching curriculum, said Lu Ping, deputy Party secretary of the zone.

During the opening ceremony, Hefei National High-tech Industrial Development Zone signed cooperation agreements with the School of Continuing Education of Tsinghua University, the School of Business at Renmin University of China, the School of Management at the University of Science and Technology of China, and Huawei Technologies Co.

Song Daojun, director of the administrative committee of Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, said that the zone has been looking to develop strategic emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, quantum information, big data, integrated circuits, and biomedicine.

A number of outstanding leading entrepreneurs have emerged in the zone, including Liu Qingfeng, president of AI giant iFlytek, and Huang Wang, founder and CEO of Huami Co, said Song.

Song added that the newly-built entrepreneurship university is expected to cultivate more first-class entrepreneurs. He urged entrepreneurs to get involved as much as possible in the university and give suggestions on how it can be further improved.
