Hefei-based PV company Sungrow Power Supply recently announced that it has surpassed the 1-gigawatt milestone for the supply of inverters to Chile, making another shipment milestone in Latin America following its shipments to Brazil exceeding 1 GW.
At present, Chile's total installed photovoltaic capacity is about 4 GW, 1 GW of which was provided by Sungrow. Chile is the first country in Latin America to set a long-term goal for renewable energy development. It is estimated that by 2025, photovoltaic power generation will account for 11 percent of total power generation in the country.
To help Chile meet the goal and satisfy strict local requirements for system costs and advanced technology, Sungrow provided a 1500-volt photovoltaic (PV) solution with inverters as the core, combined with combiner boxes, medium voltage systems and monitoring systems, as well as advanced technologies such as double-sided modules and large square arrays. The solution helped Sungrow to become Chile's chosen supplier.
"To expand on the international market is a protracted battle, relying on brand competition supported by products and technology," said Gonzalo Feito, manager for Sungrow's business in Chile.
Sungrow has established a branch and formed a professional technical service team in Chile, and has successively started cooperation with well-known companies such as Engie, ENEL and Total.
