The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has issued a 5G industry development plan (2020-2022), according to a press conference on Aug 20, putting forward the goal of achieving full 5G coverage in public spaces by 2022.
Over the next three years, the zone will strive to push forward the integration of 5G and AI with the real economy by connecting upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain, according to the plan.
It will also support the R&D and production of 5G communication core components and 5G communication chips, the plan said.
Other goals set in the plan include building a 5G industry worth 2 billion yuan ($290.09 million) by 2022 by attracting a number of 5G-related enterprises and developing more advanced 5G products.
Hefei has built more than 5,000 5G base stations since the city launched commercial use of 5G in October last year, becoming one of the leading cities in 5G construction in China.
