Anhui Pengde Information Technology developed a scientific research equipment management and sharing platform capable of providing researchers with easier access to large equipment.
As the demand for large high-end equipment grows, many universities and scientific institutes have found that their investment in the equipment has grown significantly but usage sometimes remains low.
The new platform is meant to help reduce the economic burden on these universities and institutes and make better use of the equipment.
Zheng Ming, technical director of Pengde, discussed two ways to use the platform. Users can reserve a time for the equipment managers to perform experiments for them or make reservations to use the equipment themselves.
Lu Zhiqiang, general manager of Pengde, said five people can manage over 100 devices on the platform, greatly improving efficiency.
The platform has been used by nearly 100 universities and scientific institutes in China and manages more than 30,000 pieces of equipment.
It will also collect data about the equipment, such as usage rate and charging information, which will help with in-depth analyses.
Pengde is also working to promote the platform in Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces, as their scientific cooperation is increasing.
