Hefei-based smart wearables maker Huami Corp and top Chinese respiratory expert Zhong Nanshan and his team launched a joint lab on July 15 to help with follow-up care and treatment for recovered COVID-19 patients.
The lab is a cooperation project between Huami, the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Disease, and the Guangdong Nanshan Medical Innovation Research Institute, the latter two of which are both led by Zhong.
"Patients often say they feel they have symptoms, but Huami's smart wearable devices can provide specific data by monitoring patients," said Zhong.
Huang Wang, president of Huami, said he hopes Huami's strength in smart wearable technology, health big data, and artificial intelligence algorithms can be fully applied to the field of respiratory health through the new lab.
