The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone ranked 17th in the list of the top 100 biomedical industrial parks in 2020 recently released by CCID Consulting and medicine information platform of Sina Corp.
The list evaluates the comprehensive competitiveness of 387 national biomedical industrial parks (including 168 national high-tech zones and 219 national economic development zones) based on location, ease of transportation, surrounding environment, scientific innovation ability, enterprise agglomeration, development potential and more.
In recent years, the zone has been prioritizing the development of the health industry in order to boost high-quality economic development. To this end, it has been strengthening policy support and accelerating the formation of the industrial cluster.
The zone is now home to a national healthcare big data center and a provincial biomedicine and high-end medical equipment R&D center. As it grows, the industry is playing an increasingly important role in the development of new economy in the zone.
According to the compilers of the list, the domestic biomedical industry has weak points in terms of basic research, innovation, approval process, sharing, and marketing, and bares a high risk of failure. Biomedical industrial parks need to build an open, innovative and efficient biomedical innovation system to solve these problems, and those which make breakthroughs are expected to take the lead in industrial development.
As one of the first national high-tech zones to be approved by the State Council, the zone has ranked among the top 10 in the comprehensive ranking of national high-tech zones for five consecutive years and 6th in 2019.
