Hefei encourages tech companies to build innovation centers
The Hefei municipal government recently announced it will build 10 technological innovation centers in the city relying on local tech companies as well as support policies, according to officials from Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province.
They said the tech companies are leaders in the city's key industries including electronic information, advanced manufacturing, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, agriculture, biomedicines, intelligent rail transit and quantum computing.
The city government has urged all its departments to ensure services for building the technological innovation centers and encouraged the companies to enhance R&D in cutting-edge technologies.
According to the support policy, each center will receive 3 million yuan ($422,475) in awards for sci-tech achievements and recruitment programs.
The centers are being encouraged to apply to be recognized as provincial-level technological innovation centers -- to get policy support from the provincial government, and to reform and innovate in their management, investment, commercialization, recruitment and projects.
Four companies in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone -- Huami Technology, East China Engineering Science and Technology, Anhui Anke Biotechnology and Hefei Sunwin Intelligence -- will be responsible for the technological innovation centers for smart wearable products, high-end chemicals and new materials, tumor therapy and urban rail transit, respectively.
