The Hefei Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine located in the biomedicine industrial park in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone is an innovative R&D institute for the biomedical industry.

The institute was established by the Hefei Municipal People's Government and the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health of Chinese Academy of Sciences in accordance with the national innovation-driven development strategy and a cooperation agreement with the Anhui Provincial People's Government. 

The institute is contributing to the construction of the Hefei Comprehensive Science and Technology Center and aims to promote high-level basic research and form a high-tech innovation system for biomedicine, stem cells and regenerative medicine in Hefei.

To meet local economic needs, the institute will fully make use of, integrate and improve current R&D resources to develop a distinctive R&D network for national and regional biomedical research and industrialization.

It is engaged in stem cell and regenerative medicine research, genomic research, diagnostic reagents and test analysis equipment development, and provides related technological development, technology transfer and consulting services.
