The efforts of the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in 2019 were recognized by the General Office of the State Council in a notice issued on May 8.

The notice said that the zone made significant progress in developing a regional demonstration center for innovation and entrepreneurship last year and performed well in the implementation of related policies, increasing employment by encouraging entrepreneurship, and creating a suitable environment for innovators and entrepreneurs.

The zone, along with 14 other areas recognized in the notice, will receive more assistance in the building of a supporting platform for innovation and entrepreneurship in 2020, according to the notice.

In addition, the National Development and Reform Commission will increase investment into the zones by the central government, provide development funds for innovation and entrepreneurship projects originating in the areas, and help promote such projects at national events.
