Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone was ratified as a national digital service export center at a press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce on April 16.

The zone is the only industrial park in central China to make the list of 12 Chinese industrial parks which were ratified as national digital service export centers. The list was jointly published by the Ministry of Commerce, Cyberspace Administration of China, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

According to an announcement made upon the list's release on April 16, the decision was made by the government to develop the digital economy, accelerate the development of digital service exports, and boost international competitiveness.

Digital technologies are playing an important role in the global fight against COVID-19, and new business models and formats such as remote working, online education, cloud contracting, and 5G are flourishing. Building the new center will help accelerate the development of digital trade and the application of digital technology, fostering new systems of trade and business models.

The zone plans to deepen cooperation with international partners in digital service and introduce and cultivate 100 digital service enterprises above designated size by 2020.
