East China's Anhui province launched an international version of its health QR code on March 24 in an effort to reduce imported cases and to help overcome any language barriers people may face when applying for the code.
Applicants must first register on the Wanshitong or Alipay app using their real names. After entering the application page, they can switch between the Chinese and English versions, fill in their true personal information, and receive a QR code.
The health code will be one of several colors based on the information entered. A green code allows people to pass through major checkpoints in Anhui, a yellow code requires a 7-day quarantine, and a red code requires a 14-day quarantine.
Foreigners with green health codes and normal temperatures will be allowed to travel across Anhui without worrying about coronavirus-related traffic restrictions.
The international version of the code is already available in the cities of Hefei and Huangshan, while other cities in the province will introduce it soon.
