High-growth firms a boost for Hefei tech zone's development

A total of 502 enterprises in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in East China's Anhui province were rated as high-growth ones in 2019, including one unicorn company and two leading ones.
In recent years, Hefei tech zone has rolled out an array of policies to foster more high-growth enterprises, such as unicorns and gazelles, aiming to make them driving forces for the zone's high-quality development. Unicorns are privately held startups valued at more than $1 billion; gazelles are fast-growing, often small high-tech businesses.
Upholding the development goal of "building the zone into a world-class high-tech industrial park", Hefei tech zone has beefed up efforts to optimize its business environment. Government officials vowed to accelerate the approval process to improve work efficiency, and major infrastructure construction projects related to education, culture, sports and commercial activities were sped up, enabling them to meet different demands of enterprises.
Advanced technologies and methods such as artificial intelligence and big data will be applied to provide efficient support and accurate services for enterprises, with the aim of fostering more high-tech, high-growth, and high-added value enterprises, and promote them into leading roles in the zone's strategic emerging industries.
