Quick test papers for COVID-19 (the disease caused by the novel coronavirus) developed in Hefei recently received a huge volume of orders from abroad.

With just one drop of blood from a fingertip, the test paper will change color and display results within 10 to 15 minutes.

Compared with current testing devices, the test paper is more convenient, flexible, and low-risk.

The product was jointly developed by Deep Blue, a medical technology company based in the Hefei National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and the Center for Disease Control of Anhui.

Researchers said the testing principle used for the product is the same as the theory introduced by the R&D team led by Zhong Nanshan, a top Chinese infectious disease specialist.

The product was filed with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shortly after launch, and has obtained international CE certification (EU standard) and domestic export sales certification.

Deep Blue has said it is capable of producing 100,000 test papers per day, which will help alleviate the shortage of COVID-19 testing products throughout the world.
