Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, is strengthening cooperation with Germany in the manufacturing sector, a local newspaper said on Sept 20.

The inauguration of the China-Germany Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Park in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in 2017 was a seminal moment for Anhui-German relations.

"The park will focus on five fields – information technology, high-end equipment, new energy vehicles, medical equipment and emergency equipment," said a spokesperson for the innovation park.

Chinese and German enterprises engaged in said fields are using the innovation park to develop their high-quality projects.

Since its inception, the innovation park has helped push forward Made in China 2025 and Industry 4.0, two strategies launched by China and Germany, respectively.

As more and more German enterprises come to Hefei, they are bringing with them an increasing amount of foreign investment and talents.

An office has been inaugurated in Frankfurt, Germany to work with the Hefei side on cross-border cooperation in talent exchange and help Chinese enterprises expand abroad.

The two sides are also looking to cooperate in other areas.

Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone and RWTH Aachen University, which specializes in mechanical engineering technology, agreed to build an institute in the zone on Sept 19 which will promote the development of robotics and intelligent manufacturing.

Hefei International Talent City held a meeting for German talents on Sept 21 to introduce them to recent developments in the city and announced the launch of the Association of Germans in Hefei.
