The launch ceremony for 2019 Anhui (Hefei) Cyber Security Publicity Week -- running from Sept 16-22 -- was held in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone on Sept 16.

The event aims to increase public awareness of cyber security and calls on social communities to join hands to create a credible network environment.

During the week, a series of activities focusing on telecommunications, personal information protection and financial security are being held in schools, companies and residential areas.

Yu Aihua, head of the publicity department of Anhui province, said at the launch that cyber security requires joint efforts.

"Online users should temper their behavior on the Internet," Yu said.

"Technology developers should enhance their capacity to ensure information security. Enterprises should take more social responsibility to manage their platforms well."

After the launch ceremony, attendees visited an exhibition of products and services from 14 network security enterprises and participated in some security activities.

As one of the organizers of the event, Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone said it is actively developing its security industry.

A spokesman said it has more than 150 enterprises engaged in the field and will launch more projects in this regard to form an industrial cluster.
