The cooperation between Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone and Dawning Information Industry Co, or Sugon, was sealed with an agreement to create the latter's regional headquarters on Jan 3.

Government officials and business representatives witnessed the signing ceremony.

It marks the second time the two sides have turned their cooperation into tangible results. The new headquarters has ridden the wave of the previous Hefei supercomputing center and will strive to meet local computation needs while seeking innovative breakthroughs in cutting-edge fields like high performance computing, said Song Guoquan, chief of Hefei municipal Party committee.

Li Jun, head of Sugon, said the innovative climate and preferential policies of Hefei has soothed the company and encouraged it to advance. He is determined to make more innovative and inspiring contributions to local development.

The headquarters, once put into operation, will house over 300 researchers and yield an annual revenue of 1 billion yuan ($146 million). It will spearhead the development of a group of digital economy companies focused on the integration of advanced computing and its practical applications, and hence push forward the establishment of a complete local information industry circle with an estimated value of over 10 billion yuan.
