A robot recently caused excitement at a science and technology exhibition marking 40 years of China's reform and opening-up in Hefei, East China's Anhui province.

The robot, Jiajia, dressed as a medical worker, can imitate a doctor's consultation process, talk with patients, and provide clinical suggestions based on big data information.

During the process, she can collect, gather, categorize and organize description of the patient's symptoms, provide more options to a doctor, and assist the doctor to complete the consultation.

Jiajia has even won appreciation from China's top officials. It was created by the Institute of Advanced Technology, the University of Science and Technology of China, a prestigious higher learning institution based in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone.

The zone is home to a variety of tech establishments and a wide array of innovative products has been conceived there.
