Hefei effort relieves neighboring city's traffic burden
An intelligent robot able to check and confirm various traffic violations was recently put into use in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.
Freeing staff members from heavy workloads and low efficiency, the robot is designed with intelligent programming to analyze videos and recognize a wide array of traffic violations, such as randomly changing lanes, cutting in line, going in the wrong direction, and taking up bus and bicycle lanes.
It can also automatically take three photos as proof of violations.
"Only two people are needed to handle the work now, a remarkable change from the former 20 people," said an officer at the local traffic control department.
The amount of proof videos has also quadrupled compared to the previous manual era.
The robot was co-worked by Wenzhou traffic control department, Leinao, and Zalend Intelligence Co, with the latter two based in Hefei city in neighboring Anhui province.
Leinao, a company flourishing with help of the National Engineering Laboratory for Brain-inspired Intelligence Technology and Application in Hefei city, also announced a cloud-based system at the ceremony, integrating intelligent solutions to traveling, parking and traffic control.
