A total of over 2,000 Hefei companies showcased during the first China International Import Expo, displaying cutting-edge technologies and delicate exhibits.

At the west, east and north entrances of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) where the expo was held, dozens of security check equipment applying Terahertz, an electromagnetic wave were used to ensure high level of security.

Named TeraSnap, the equipment was developed by Brainware Terahertz Information Technology Co Ltd, a state-owned company located in Hefei specializing in research and development, manufacture, sales and service of terahertz series body scanner for security check.

Differing from the traditional method, now people only need to walk through the aisle without being touched and the check will be automatically done. A secondary check is only required when the machine detects any prohibited items.

Wu Fei, vice manager of the company, said the throughput of using TeraSnap can reach 1,500 people in an hour, yet the traditional method can only check 240 people, making it suitable for places with large population flow such as airports, train stations and large-scale exhibitions.
