The joint team of iFlytek Co and the National Engineering Laboratory supported by University of Science and Technology of China (USTC-NEL) won the top prize for its End-to-End Model on Anglo-German voice translation, during the recently concluded 2018 International Workshop on Spoken Language Translation.

The team also won the second prize on Baseline Model test, proving their leading position in speech translation.

This is the ninth international top prize won by iFlytek in global translation competitions this year, according to Hu Yu, executive president of iFlytek, outstanding enterprise in artificial intelligence (AI) area.

Founded in 1999, and after 19 years of development, iFlytek has reached international advanced level in the core technologies of intelligent speech and artificial intelligence, such as speech synthesis, speech recognition, spoken language evaluation, language translation, voiceprint recognition, face recognition, natural language processing and so on.

Hu said that AI is the "light" of current era, and what iFlytek should do is to pursue the "light" of the technology.

He added that one important spirit of the entrepreneur is to stick to the belief. And those who hold such thinking are the "pursuers" of light, and they can see the future and the trend of time because of their belief.
