About Hefei
Hefei, the capital of Anhui province, is well known as a historical site famous in the Three Kingdoms period (220-280) and the hometown of Lord Bao, an official of the Song Dynasty (960-1279) who was not only famous for his justice and integrity, but also for making Hefei city nationally renowned. Located between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River and alongside Chaohu Lake, Hefei is accessible to the coastal cities of East China. It has an area of 11,434.25 sq km and a population of 7,869,000 residents, according to the 2016 Hefei survey.
Hefei was identified by The Economist in December 2012 as the world's No.1 fastest growing metropolitan economy. Hefei’s GDP increased at an average rate of over 12 percent per year during 2011-2015. In 2016, the city’s GDP was 627.43 billion yuan ($91.33 billion), a year-on-year growth of 9.8 percent; the per capita GDP was 80,136 yuan.
