Hefei National University Science Park (HFUSP) is the only state-level university science park in Anhui province and one of the first 22 parks of its kind. It was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education on May 30, 2001. 

Relying on the construction of some local universities, including the University of Science and Technology of China and Hefei University of Technology, HFUSP adopts an operation and management mode featuring many universities clustered in one park. The cluster currently consists of incubation centers like the HFUSP Business Incubator (state-level university science park and state-level incubator for sci-tech firms), the HFUSP Sci-Tech Enterprise Accelerator, USTC Science Park, and HFUSP’s Anqing Sub-park (provincial level).

The HFUSP is constructing the Feidong Sub-park and is going to build more sub-parks in Hefei and Lu’an. 

It has won many titles and honors since its foundation, being named a national-level university science park, national-level technology enterprise incubator, and technology entrepreneurship internship center for university students organized by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology. It is also a station of the Home Program—Help Our Motherland through Elite Intellectual Resources from Overseas of the China Association for Science and Technology. It serves as an institute of SME innovation funding of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a training base for members of the Chinese Communist Youth League in concert with the University of Science and Technology of China, and a youth employment and entrepreneurship base of the Hefei Communist Youth League and Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone. 

The park ranked second among Class B universities and 19th among 86 national university science parks nationwide in 2011’s performance evaluation of Chinese national university science parks organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education. 

The park’s entrepreneurship incubator was rated Class A among national technology company incubators in 2014, ranking 40th nationwide and first in Anhui province. 

What’s more, the park ranked 16th among the Top 25 global university incubators as evaluated by the Sweden University Business Incubator (UBI GLOBAL) in 2014. 

Currently there are 100 enterprises in the park and a further 86 waiting for admission. Companies in the park have 2,341 employees, excluding branch workers. Three hundred and twenty-six of them hold a doctoral degree, 31 have an overseas education background.

A total of 56.72 million yuan ($8.3 million dollars) has been provided to 95 enterprises in the park by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The park also has 71 national high-tech enterprises and 73 high-tech products, 50 software enterprises and 264 software products, and 64 Hefei municipal-level high-tech firms. It has won 234 awards for achievements of science and technology.

Since 2002, the park has started to carry out “shareholding incubation”, providing 12.5 million yuan of small short-term demolition loans to 17 start-ups. The park actively promotes investing and financing projects to investment companies and financing institutes through events such as an Angel Investment forum, accumulating nearly 300 million yuan in investment and financing. 

In 2015, the park had three enterprises listed on the “New Third Board” (China's National Equities Exchange and Quotation board), and eight enterprises finished stock reform in anticipation of an IPO.

Currently, the park is preparing angel investment funding of 70 million yuan for better development, as approved by the directors in a meeting of park shareholders.  

The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, the Baohe district government of Hefei, Lu’an municipal government and some private enterprises have shown an intention to participate. 

The park achieved a rating of 97.2 percent for overall customer satisfaction in 2015. It had 30 enterprises incubated and 11 other enterprises that were well established in the same year. In 2015, the enterprises in the park achieved total revenue of 15.33 million yuan, net profit of 2 million yuan and paid 1.93 million yuan for tax, completely meeting the annual targets in quality, management and business operation.
