Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is witnessing a significant transformation, evolving from a traditional industrial hub into a livable modern urban center.

Central to this transformation is Junshan New City, where three major projects are underway: industrial development, infrastructure enhancement, and urban function upgrades.

New leisure and cultural tourism facilities, including ice sports, low-altitude flying, equestrian experiences, and family camping, are being introduced to enhance Junshan’s livability.

A 9-square-kilometer headquarters area is being developed along the shores of Houguan Lake, encompassing a headquarters district, an industry-city integration demonstration zone, and a university innovation economic belt.

The area has attracted over 20 headquarters enterprises, including Dongfeng Motor, with total revenue and industrial scale exceeding 8 billion yuan ($1.14 billion).

Authorities have also been working to enhance education, healthcare, culture, and infrastructure. Transportation infrastructure has improved significantly over the past five years, with four highways, three expressways, and a comprehensive road network spanning 1,343 kilometers. Metro Line 16 is now operational, further enhancing connectivity.

The focus on education has led to the establishment of several high-quality schools such as Wuhan Jingkai Foreign Language School and Junshan Experimental Foreign Languages School. In healthcare, high-level medical institutions, including Tongji Junshan Hospital, ensure comprehensive medical coverage.

Cultural and recreational amenities are also being enhanced with the introduction of Lu Xun Bookstore, Xuanyuan Bookstore, and various parks and squares, improving the living environment.

WEDZ plans to attract major industrial projects to strengthen its industrial chains, establish high-level innovation platforms, and develop service projects in dining, commerce, and hospitality.

The zone is also committed to urban renewal, upgrading existing buildings, old neighborhoods, and industrial sites, while improving housing policies and real estate market supply to meet diverse residential needs.
