The inauguration ceremony for the Auto Valley Industry-Education Consortium was held in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on June 5.

The consortium, whose headquarters is scheduled to be established within the confines of the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Zone as well as the Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, is guided under the capable leadership of Dongfeng Motor Co and the esteemed Wuhan City Polytechnic. Moreover, this esteemed consortium shall witness the active involvement and participation of not just a few, but a staggering total of 208 local universities and higher and secondary vocational colleges.

It is expected to build a talent supply and demand information platform, a specialized service platform, and a technology innovation center to facilitate the high-quality development of the zone's advanced manufacturing, a new generation of information technology, high-end equipment, and new energy vehicles.

The zone's administrative committee and the Wuhan City Polytechnic signed a cooperation framework contract on the joint building of the consortium.

"The consortium's founding will speed up the transformation of the automobile industry and provide more talents majoring in this field," said Zhang Zutong, vice general manager of Dongfeng.

The industry-education integration is the engine for industrial innovation. WEDZ has deployed emerging sectors such as digital economy, artificial intelligence, electric cars, and seed chips in four areas – Zhuankou, Junshan, Shamao, and Xianghong, and is expected to advance the industry-education layout in these areas further, said Tang Chao, director of WEDZ's administrative committee.
