The Digital Publishing Base of Huazhong Intelligent Valley began operating at full capacity on March 29, with a ceremony held in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) that same day.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Hubei, Wuhan and WEDZ governments. Agreements for more than 20 industrial projects from Visteon Asia Pacific Inc, Dongfeng Mengshi Tech Co and other companies were signed for the second phase of the publishing base during the event. The projects involve digital creative business, industrial design, ICV, culture and tourism, and cultural finance, and received a total of 5.39 billion yuan ($847.85 million) in investment.
Invested in by Wuhan Cultural Investment Development Group Co, the publishing base is the first of its kind in Central China, and its first phase has been operating since 2017. By the end of 2021, it was home to 208 enterprises with an annual output of 12 billion yuan.
Visteon Asia Pacific Inc – a Fortune 500 company – has agreed to establish its Wuhan research center at the publishing base.
"By the end of this year, we will build over 1,000 square meters of high-tech laboratories and recruit nearly 200 researchers for battery management, on-board charging and energy storage programs," said Liu Junjun, a representative of the company.
