The development of the China-Europe freight train service has brought more options for the purchase of previously exotic goods for the holidays for residents of Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, according to a report in the Changjiang Daily.
With the approach of the Spring Festival which falls on Jan 24 this year, Wuhan city has increased China-Europe freight trains.
On Jan 14, the X8029 freight train composed of 44 cars reached Wuhan. On Jan 15, the X8029 freight train from Russia arrived in Wuhan city, loaded with special festival purchases including sunflower seed oil.
“I studied in Germany before and now the China-Europe freight trains transport these products to Wuhan,” said a resident surnamed Zhang, who just bought beer from Germany and Tiramisu imported from Italy.
“I can buy them in the store near home at a fair price, which is very convenient,’ Zhang added.
Since starting in 2018, the China-Europe freight train service in Wuhan has transported special holiday purchases -- including cheese, wine, beer, juice and candies from abroad, as well as exported Chinese goods including liquor, sesame oil, mango and grapefruit.
