Construction on three key projects worth 10.13 billion yuan ($1.47 billion) began on Jan 11 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in the capital city of central Hubei province, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
Zone officials said the three projects are Tongji Modern Pharmaceutical Ecological Industrial Park, the SEW-Eurodrive Wuhan Expansion Phase 2 and Wuhan Hannan Zhonggu -- the latter project in English translating as crop farming valley.
They said the projects are expected to promote the biomedicines, advanced manufacturing and modern agriculture sectors in the zone in terms of capital, technology and employment.
The Tongji Modern Pharmaceutical Ecological Industrial Park, located in Fenghuang Industrial park in the WHDZ, will be developed by Wuhan Tongji Modern Pharmaceutical Technology Co.
The project plans to add nine Chinese medicine production lines and build a modern medicine research and development center, as well as biomedical industry and Chinese medicine facilities.
The SEW-Eurodrive Wuhan Expansion Phase 2 plans to expand the main plant and build an intelligent three-dimensional library, a world-class non-contact power supply AGV -- or automatic guided vehicle -- transport system, as well as a small assembly line.
The Wuhan Hannan Zhonggu project is being funded and developed by Wuhan Bishui Tianhua Agricultural Development Co.
It will be a facility integrating breeding research and development, technology integration, industry incubation and displays of research achievements.
The project plans to recruit 500 top professionals, establish three to five key laboratories, platforms or engineering centers at or above the provincial level -- and attract at least 30 businesses.
