Wuhan, capital city of central Hubei province, is aiming to achieve year-on-year growth of 7.5 to 7.8 percent in regional GDP in 2020, as unveiled in a government work report on Jan 7, according to officials.
They said the target is to create some 220,000 new jobs in 2020 and per capita disposable annual income of urban and rural households is expected to grow, keeping pace with GDP growth.
According to the report, when the final figures come in the regional GDP of Wuhan for last year is projected to have achieved year-on-year growth of 7.8 percent.
The added value of high-tech industries is expected to have accounted for 24.5 percent of the economic aggregate, with the digital economy accounting for some 40 percent of the economic aggregate.
Construction work on 551 key projects worth more than 100 million yuan ($14.40 million) each began in 2019. Investment contracts worth more than 2 trillion yuan were signed throughout the year.
Officials said that more than 300 Fortune Global 500 companies have settled in Wuhan.
