Wuhan launches railway e-tickets

Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, has introduced an e-ticket system for its bullet and high-speed trains starting Dec 25, according to a report in the Hubei Daily.

With the launch of the system, the e-tickets replace paper stubs and passengers can board trains using their ID cards or a QR code generated by China's official railway ticket-booking mobile app, called 12306.

Those who need hard copies of their tickets for reimbursement can get printed tickets at designated counters at the railway stations.

Passengers can use valid ID cards and other identifiable documents. With them, they can purchase tickets to go through the self-service gates, for verification and check-ins and check-out procedures, based on the original valid ID of the passenger used at the time of the ticket purchase.

During the boarding process, passengers must be seated according to the date, train number, carriage number and seat number shown on the purchased ticket. When train staff members check the ticket, passengers should present the original valid ID cards used when purchasing the ticket.

Rail officials said that it is worth noting that parents must use his or her valid ID or the ID of the accompanying adult when purchasing a child’s ticket.

Students and disabled soldiers should go to the designated ticket window, or automatic ticket vending machine set up at the stations, to go through the verification procedures of their resident ID card and student concession card or disabled military concession certificate before buying tickets.
