More new energy vehicle (NEV) charging stations have been set up in Wuhan, the capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, according to local transport officials
There are currently more than 60,000 NEVs in Wuhan city -- and there is great demand for the NEV charging stations.
A spokesman from Wuhan Naerchong Technology Co said some 4,000 parking spaces for charging NEVs with emergency charging piles are to be set up in Jiang’an district, which is the pilot district for NEV charging. So far, a total of 471 have been put into operation.
Two roadside emergency charging piles placed at Baiheyuan went online for 61 days, providing a total of 121 charging cycles for vehicles. An average single charge uses 10.61 kWh of electricity and lasts 5.2 hours.
Charging a new energy vehicle costs 1.6 yuan ($0.23) per kilowatt-hour of electricity.
According to the company, by Dec 31, 500 NEV charging stations will be in service in Jiang’an district.
