Wuhan-based automaker Dongfeng Motor Co earned a social responsibility development index comprehensive score of 86.6 points, ranking 10th among domestic businesses, according to the Blue Book on Corporate Social Responsibility (2019) released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Nov 17.
The Blue Book on Corporate Social Responsibility (2019), has been compiled by the Research Center for Corporate Social Responsibility of the CASS and published for the past 11 years. It systematically discloses the social responsibility development indexes of the top 300 Chinese enterprises, the top 100 State-owned enterprises, the top 100 private enterprises, the top 100 foreign companies, and 10 key industries such as automobiles, electric power and banks.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of Dongfeng Motor Co. In those 50 years, the company has produced and sold 45 million vehicles, with tax payments of more than 480 billion yuan ($68.22 billion). Its business has spread to more than 20 cities in China, such as Shiyan, Xiangyang, Wuhan and Guangzhou. Significant results have been achieved by the company in improving the local investment environment, increasing local taxes, and stimulating regional economic development.
Also, the company continues to increase research and development of green products such as new energy vehicles, accelerate the construction of green factories, and build a green development model.
