A fact-finding delegation of Wuhan residents and netizens visited the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone on Nov 4, to see for themselves cutting-edge sustainable technologies being used there, according to local media reports.
The delegation first visited Hubei Xinxin Blue Environmental Protection Technology Co, a company based in WHDZ.
A waste treatment plant operated by the company there does not incinerate or landfill garbage, but instead uses patented technology to screen the waste and turn it into simulated wood materials for export.
The delegation also learned about garbage sorting at Putan community in WHDZ, which has a comprehensive garbage sorting reward system.
The third stop of the tour was an intelligent public toilet located on Tiyu Road in the zone.
Officials said the toilet adopts a variety of intelligent controls.
A face recognition machine is installed at the entrance for toilet paper dispensing and a display screen on the wall monitors odors and features online data.
