Three businesses located in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone recently obtained the first batch of intelligent network car manned trial operations license issued by Wuhan transportation bureau, according local media reports.
Officials said this marked the point when intelligent network vehicles were going into commercial operations.
To date, a total of seven intelligent network vehicles have been put into operation in the WHDZ.
The WHDZ boasts the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone, which is the only demonstration zone for multi-scenario smart car applications in China.
A new 28-kilometer test road for intelligent road network vehicle demonstrations and applications has been completed in the test and demonstration zone. This is the first intelligent network-connected vehicle demonstration area in China, based on full coverage by the 5G communications technology V2X vehicle road coordination system.
Various auto-driving configurations for testing different types of vehicles -- such as buses, sanitation vehicles, taxis and logistics vehicles -- have been added.
