Jianghan University, approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, is a public multidisciplinary university, formed after the amalgamation of Jianghan University, the Hankou Branch of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan Medical College of Workers, Wuhan Institute of Education and other universities.
The university is a provincial and municipal key construction university, but mainly endorsed by Wuhan city.
The total area of the university campus is 141 hectares and the building area covers 550,000 square meters. There are 1,066 full-time teachers, including 591 with the title of deputy senior lecturer or above, and 17,856 full-time students, according to the official website of the university in December 2015.
