The evening of Oct. 22 was the women's volleyball final of the Wuhan Games. China lost to Brazil 1-3. Earlier in the afternoon, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea defeated Germany 3-0 for the bronze medal.
The Chinese women, runners-up to Brazil in the last Military World Games, swept Brazil 3-0 in their preliminary Group A encounter on Oct. 17. On the morning of Oct. 21, Brazil rallied past Democratic People’s Republic of Korea 3-1 in the semifinal match and China eased past Germany 3-0 to set up a final rematch against defending champions Brazil.
After losing to Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the bronze medal, Sina Kostorz, women's volleyball captain for Germany, said, "In today's game, we knew that they would do a lot of combinations, so we focused on their serves and our defense. But we made many serving mistakes which were direct points for Democratic People’s Republic of Korea."
