Guizhou outpaces national GDP growth average in Q1

In the first quarter of this year, Southwest China's Guizhou province witnessed a continuation of the upward trend in economic performance, with its stability and progress leaving their marks in the national economic landscape.

According to the unified accounting of GDP, Guizhou recorded a total GDP of 517.88 billion yuan ($71.69 billion) for the first quarter. Calculated at constant prices, this represented a growth of 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year, 0.6 percentage points higher than the previous year's annual growth rate.

The added value of Guizhou's primary industry reached 46.96 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year growth of 3.9 percent. Meanwhile, the secondary industry saw an added value of 195.45 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of 7.8 percent. The tertiary industry achieved an added value of 275.47 billion yuan, growing at a rate of 4.3 percent year-on-year.

The province's economic stride echoed the national sentiment, with China's GDP growing by 5.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter. Data revealed that the GDP growth rates of 16 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities outpaced the national average.

Among these top performers were Jilin, Jiangsu, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan, Beijing, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Fujian, Ningxia, Hebei, Xinjiang, Guizhou, and Liaoning.
