Guizhou sets goals to improve people's livelihood in 2024

According to the work report of the Guizhou Provincial People's Government released at the second plenary of the 14th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress on Jan 24, Guizhou is set to start work on 10 projects to improve people's livelihood in 2024.

1. Promoting employment and income growth

The goal is to secure employment for 18,000 students in vocational colleges that signed agreements with companies and 12,000 junior college students who became university students. Public employment service institutions will achieve full coverage at county and township levels, with approximately 80 percent coverage at the village level.

2. Enhancing the quality and effectiveness of education

Guizhou will construct, expand, or renovate 60 urban compulsory education schools, and introduce more than 1,500 principals and teachers from outside the province to provide educational and teaching assistance.

3. Improving the level of health and wellness

Guizhou will establish 50 county-level medical sub centers.

4. Developing a comprehensive elderly care service system

Guizhou will complete the adaptation of 6,000 households of particularly vulnerable elderly people to age-appropriate living conditions, and create 100 exemplary community dining facilities for the elderly.

5. Optimizing early childhood education services

Guizhou will construct, expand, or renovate 50 government-run kindergartens, and improve five municipal child welfare institutions.

6. Strengthening rural road safety

Guizhou will start work on a 3,750-kilometer rural road safety protection project, enhance the safety of 1,500 road sections with frequent accidents, and rebuild 200 unsafe bridges.

7. Implementing fire safety improvements for wooden houses in rural areas

Guizhou will start water pipe renovation and electricity renovation in 500 rural villages with more than 50 households each.

8. Enriching cultural and sports activities

Guizhou will improve facilities at 100 grassroots comprehensive cultural stations, construct 250 community exercise paths or 3-on-3 basketball courts, and add or maintain 400 pieces of sports equipment in rural areas.

9. Creating a livable environment

Guizhou will construct or renovate 170,000 toilets in rural households, complete domestic sewage treatment in 50 villages, and add 20,000 public parking spaces in urban areas.

10. Improving living facilities

Guizhou will construct pilot projects for the integrated development of passenger transportation, freight logistics and postal delivery in 10 counties, and add 100 customized bus routes.
