Southwest China's Guizhou province held various activities to promote the Jinxiu project in Taijiang county, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, on Aug 29-30.
The Jinxiu project was launched in 2013 to promote the development of the handicraft industry and help local women increase their incomes.
The activities include a handicraft competition and a creative product competition held on Aug 29, attracting more than 120 women from across the province.
The competitions provided a platform for women to showcase their skills in making embroidery and batik, and discovered various handicrafts with great market potential, unique regional characteristics, and high added value.
The competitions were expected to promote entrepreneurship, employment and industrial development.
On Aug 30, an exhibition was held to showcase the Jinxiu project's achievements in poverty alleviation, increasing incomes, and the preservation of traditional handicrafts from 2016-20.
The series of activities improved women's handicraft skills, cultivated product brands, and boosted rural vitalization with ethnic culture and traditional handicraft skills.
