Southwest China's Guizhou province has issued plans and regulations after being selected as a main construction area of the Long March national cultural park in 2019.
During the Long March, the Red Army experienced various major events and spent the most time in Guizhou, leaving behind numerous cultural relics in more than 60 counties.
The construction of the Long March national cultural park is meant to help Guizhou screen cultural resources related to the Long March, enhance the protection of relics related to the Long March, and help people learn more about the history of the Long March in Guizhou.
Based on the route of the Long March, Guizhou decided to build art museums, memorial halls, and exhibition areas, carry out protection and renovation projects, and develop art performances and tour routes.
The Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has screened more than 750 cultural relics related to the Long March. Since 2019, the province has received 199.7 million yuan ($31.31 million) in provincial and national funds for 91 Long March heritage conservation projects.
Zunyi, as an important area in Guizhou's Long March national cultural park, has improved the Zunyi Conference site, planned performance complexes, and constructed a footpath between Gouba village and Huamao village, both of which were part of the route of the Long March.
Bijie is also digging through the Long March's major events, stories and historical figures related to the city. It plans to build one exhibition area, one historical site, one scenic spot and one footpath to support Guizhou's construction of a Long March national cultural park.
In early 2022, the State Council issued the Opinions on Supporting Guizhou in Breaking a New Road in the Development of the Western Regions in the New Era, which included measures to help Guizhou protect and carry forward cultural resources related to the Long March.
