According to the Guizhou Provincial Department of Health, Southwest China's Guizhou province will construct 50 county-level medical sub-centers in nine cities and prefectures so as to boost the development of medical treatment in rural areas.
The medical sub-centers will provide diagnosis, rehabilitation and nursing services for common diseases, as well as emergency treatment and transfer services for life-threatening or complex illnesses.
They are in charge of assisting grassroots medical treatment organizations, business and technology management in village clinics; training regional medical workers; providing basic medical services for local people and promoting the development of surrounding medical institutions.
Every medical sub-center will serve more than 50,000 people in neighboring towns and townships and receive 5 million yuan ($786,150.22) in subsidies for setting up departments, hiring, and medical equipment.
Guizhou encourages municipal and county-level governments to offer financial support for the 50 medical sub-centers and establish more such centers.
