A Chinese cultural performance competition for international students from China and ASEAN was held at Guizhou University of Finance and Economics in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Dec 11. The competition is part of this year's China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week activity.
The competition included separate contests in calligraphy, dancing and tea art, along with a recital. More than 120 international students from 20 Chinese universities participated in the competition via video.
The competition has been held since 2018 and has become a platform for international students to showcase their understanding and learning of China's language and culture.
Huang Mingfei, deputy director of Guizhou University of Finance and Economics' international exchange and cooperation department, said that language and culture learning should not be limited to the classroom, but be applied and practiced in a variety of settings.
The winning performances and performers will further motivate international students to learn more about the Chinese language and culture, and boost cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
Performances and works from Guizhou University, Tongren University, Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, and Guangxi Normal University won the top prizes for calligraphy, recital, dancing and tea art, respectively.
