Southwest China's Guizhou province will reportedly launch a raft of policies to facilitate the construction of data center clusters to boost its data computing services, according to the big data department in the province's capital city of Guiyang.
It's understood the department will support the establishment of investment funds for the construction of data center clusters. It will also improve recruitment policies for people who have majored in information technology – as well as attract upstream and downstream companies in the data center sector to move there and pioneer big data innovation and applications.
Currently, Guizhou reportedly has the biggest cluster of super-large data centers in the world – and is home to enterprises with strong computing capabilities.
With the coming of the so-called metaverse – a technology concept referring to the physical world interconnected with the virtual world – it's widely believed that the need for computing power and data centers will keep rising, bringing opportunities for Guizhou to expand both its data market and development.
